No response from Hertz

I wrote a scathing review of Hertz and their disgraceful service after leaving this single mother in a. dingy car rental garage in PGH at 1230am because when they viewed my credit, it wasn't quite high enough to rent their car - even though I have rented from others in the past, am a federal employee with 2 forms of ID, had the money and a reservation but because I was paying with Visa Debit, they ran a credit check and decided it wasn't enough.

User's recommendation: Do not rent from Hertz, do not trust a reservation - it means nothing.

Horrible Rental Experience

After a horrible rental experience in Huatulco Mexico at a HERTZ Rental Facility, I have vowed never to rent a Hertz vehicle again. After receiving a rental contract price on the Hertz Website of $294 for a Chevrolet Aveo I considered myself fortunate. I also acquired a separate insurance liability policy to satisfy Mexico requirements. When we arrived at the Hertz counter in Huatulco Mexico, I was informed the car I rented was not available. I could upgrade to one car for a $30/day increase or another car for $80/day increase. I declined their "offer". This led to an increase of 5% due to using a credit card, even though your website states "No credit card charges". After much discussion, I eventually paid $365US for my nine day rental. Of course, when I returned the car, they claimed damage (light scratches) to the right rear bumper corner. I disputed this strongly, knowing the car was used sparingly and never placed in a place this could have happened. When the car was rented, a very strong rain storm was happening, and if anything was there, would have been impossible to see. Since I was not given the opportunity to see the "damage", and it could have happened after I left the car, I strongly disagreed with Hertz. This experience will be spread wide to all who will listen. DON'T RENT HERTZ.

Ive rented a car more than 2 months ago and the pick up time was 6:00 pm but when I got there the hertz rental was closed at 5:00 !!!! How can I get a car at 6:00 pm if they close at 5:00 ???? I called hertz and they said to make another reservation and that the refund they will send it to me later kkkkkk very funny !!!! I dont have enough funds on credit card to do that very disappointed with hertz !!!!

The customer service is worst in Alexandria LA , I have been renting cars since three months every time i have asked for a car to be exchanged i have been given a dirty car and i have been charged more and the staff are very rude . worst experience i ever have

Refund

I chose Hertz for 2 reasons 1) I work for State Farm and value the relationship 2) I have AAA as well and know there is a partnership there as well. I recently booked a car to be picked up at Seattle /Tacoma airport while on vacation. The price was high but rental cars are in high demand now. That is why when I cancelled it with 40+ hours before I was to pick it up I was shocked to learn that $100 was kept by Hertz. I feel this is inappropriate and that Hertz is taking advantage of its customers. I know they were able to rent the car to someone else! I would appreciate my $100 back to complete the full refund.

Scammed gas charge

Charged me for gas when I returned vehicle with a full tank there return rep never gave me a receipt nor did he check the gas gauge so they claim I was 3 gallons short then they said I was 6 gallons short and proceeded to charge me $10 (that's right) per gallon they asked me to produce a receipt but I paid cash so I would not require a receipt now guess

User's recommendation: STAY AWAY FROM HERTZ they claimed my return was 6 gallons down which it was not but even if it was the gas was $2.79 per gallon which translates to $16.74 they charged me $61.44 for gas and the return clerk never checked the gas gauge they are a company in deep trouble so they are scamming a customer out of my money Stay away there are so many other good respectable car rental comanys.

Double hold on my credit card

The company put a double hold on my credit card. The first one was when i first picked up the vehicle which was fine and confirmed. The second hold was placed on my card AFTER i returned the vehicle and was given a receipt. Then when i called to see why i was charged a hold twice. All the rep could tell me was to wait 5 days to see if its fixed. No compensation or apologies for their error worst ental car company evert t

Excessive charges and NO post rental inspection

When we returned the rental car all the clerk asked for were the keys. There was no post rental inspection nor any signed paperwork. Twenty to thirty minutes later my phone rings and the Hertz clerk tells me that I will be charged $150.00 extra for sand in the car. We asked for them to not touch the car, we wanted to see for ourselves. The location hung up on us three times. When we arrived we were not allowed to see for ourselves.InsistInsi

Very bad experience with hertz company. If you dont need customers that ok. I had a trip get away and try to get rental call they me do online I got done with everything online n charge so I wait till the day I go pick up the car they told me I have to do this n that end up They say Im not qualify? Why you didnt say anything at the first so I know why wait till I fill out n get charge then tell me you guys need credit to rent a car? and I dont get my refund back either you wasted my time n $ this horrible because I have to cancel my trip n wast money !

High Deposit

I have been renting from you all consistently since June of 2020 and haven't had a problem with the $200 deposit, however when i walked in 2 weeks ago to a $500 dollar deposit i was stunned. I don't think this is fair to customers in good standing, this should apply to new rentals or younger rentals who are more at risk of not returning your vehicles. I am a faithful and on time rental, i could of choose any rental car company but i choose you all because of how great your customer service is. The deposit is a little much, you all went up 300 dollars more and your rates are horrific. I don't know what i can do now because its costing me more than usual.

Ordered a full-size rental car online. When I got there the young lady told me that they didnt have anymore full-size and that I would have to upgrade to a SUV for an extra $100. A gentleman behind me was just returning a full-size car so I asked if I could rent that on. The lady said yes they just have to wash it. The young lady mad a few phone calls then inform me that that rental could not be rented out because the plates were expired. I said the car was just returned and the plates are expired. She said yes. I took pics of the returned car and the plates exp 6/2021 which is the end of this month
