HERTZ car rentals overcharge

Just back home and got a message from Hotwire giving me a $50 credit to be used within one year. Not the whole amount but a reasonable accommodation for the grief I got at the Tampa Hertz counter. Thank you Hotwire.

Hertz confirmation code: G4943****F4 Hotwire Itinerary: 397802**** We picked up the car in Tampa and had to pay $110 extra to add my wife as a driver. The Hertz clerk laughingly told us that "This happens all the time." Geez, just what I wanted to hear! Earlier, when I called Hertz about adding her, I was told "No problem, no charge because you're married." What's going on? I also fault Hotwire for not allowing both parties to sign on as drivers when the reservation was originally made. Since Hotwire obviously knows about this scam, why do they continue to do business with Hertz? Two big, hungry companies in cahoots is what I see.

I came into a Hertz rental on a Friday, because everyone else was booked solid here in St. George, UT. Now I understand why Hertz had so many available. Rented for one day and brought car back in time. That is Sat. Come Tuesday. Call and get a guy who say I won't get my held money $200.00 back till MAYBE Thursday. I find it funny how they can take about $350.00 from anyone's account in a second, but getting YOUR money back takes a week. Never going back to this inconsiderate place ever again.

I recently rented a car from hertz and took it back because I smelt something burning. I took it to a professional body shop and they said that the car had been burning from the inside out and had melted around the entrance of the pipe. The body shop also inquired that the bumper had look like an replacement without a pipe exit hole. Now I had a bill from Viking about a bill from hertz for $746. Are they crazy.. then when I ask did they know the reason he reply and said they still don't know. But evidently they had knew who to charge. The body shop I took it to didn't take 10 seconds and knew what it was. Therefore in my eye they''re trying to make me pay for something not my fault. I don't even think so I will be getting a lawyer for them and they can pay that fee and for me stressing n hair falling out. See if they can have a camera for that. Since the guy I spoke with gonna say. Well hertz doesn't have a camera on their cars and know one sitting in the back seat. Let's see if their insurance can pay my attorney fees. I will not be dealing with hertz ever and never recommended anyone. It was lovely while it lasted in February.

Hi, my name is Robert B and my rental acct. # is H2249****. I was involved in a Not At Fault accident recently with a State Farm customer. My reason for this email is the $10 a day charge which was added to my rental. I would like for the charge of $98 to be removed due to the fact I was purposely deceived at the time of the rental. I was made to believe the charge was only for $10 PERIOD and was required in order to rent the vehicle. I specifically told the young man that I would pay the $10 in cash when I returned the vehicle because I can't afford any charges on my credit card and he responded with "ok". I have comprehensive and collision coverage with Allstate with a deductible of $250, so I would never have agreed to pay Hertz for assistance with my deductible, especially not knowing how long I would be in the rental. I have contacted the Griffin location every business day since Feb. 17th (day of return) trying to get this matter resolved after requesting the charge be removed and there has been no attempt by anyone in management to reach out to me regarding this situation. PLEASE help, I'm disappointed with every aspect of this experience, from the condition of the vehicle (not detailed prior), deceptive wording in order to add the charge for commission purposes, the lack of response from anyone in management, and the attitude I received while on the phone with customer service at 1-80*-654-****, being told that they could just send me a copy of my signature on the contract and it was unfortunate I didn't take the time to read it. Again, please help me with this, I just want the charge removed and I would hope the employees at all locations would be told to be clear when adding these charges to a rental in the future.

Hidden Upgrade Charges

I was offered a more expensive car but was never told about $60.00 a day for an upgrade Fee. I didn't ask for the car; it was offered to me. These New Generation Robots that Hertz is training to be ***/men makes me laugh, why would you screw a customer? You start off with a $109.00 rental; when it's all said and done you end up with a $489.00 dollar rental + gas, Once I rented a car from Hertz in O'Fallon Missouri and for a joke I went to the Dollar/Tree and bought cleaning stuff then washed it and turned it back in cleaner than it was when they gave it to me! (LOL) This new generation has no "PRIDE" or "SHAME".

My husband and I went in to the Hertz Rental on Brittany Road in Akron, Ohio. My first impression was not good as the store was filthy. There was a coating of dust on everything, and the floor am runners were dirty and gritty. There was a gentleman behind the counter assisting a customer, and another gentleman sitting in the back. We were greeted upon entering, but not spoken to again for almost 15 minutes. Even with the gentleman in the back, we did not receive assistance, no did he answer the phone that rang incessantly. Finally we got to the counter and the gentleman who was waiting on us was extremely unhelpful. We were there due to troubles using their Web site with out coupons. The price quoted on line was $186, to which the gentleman said he could not give us that price, that we would have to go through the online service. Again we explained their was an issue with that, and the gentleman again said their was nothing he could do about it. He was also unhelpful in explaining which cars we could chose from, and how our coupon for a free double upgrade would work. The whole time he was speaking with us he was sitting, holding his chin in his hand, like we were taking up his time. My husband is a manager and I have 6 years of being a customer service manager. So we know what it takes to complete customer satisfaction. This store does NOT have that ability. If you can't keep your store clean you have no pride in your work place. If you can not address customers in a timely manner, and have to tell customers you can't help them, there is a serious lack of training and motivation. We will NOT be using Hertz for a rental, and we will certainly NOT be recommending them to any one !!

We rented a car from Hertz for 3 days and besides the rental fee we were charged an additional fee of $ 83.96 for CDW/LDW insurance. We called them about this additonal charge which we didn't need, didn't ask for, and didn't agree to. They, of course, claimed otherwise and would not refund our money. If you ever have to deal with these people, be very careful. I might even suggest that you tape the conversation at the rental desk as well as triple read everything before you sign. Good luck to future rental victims! One last word of advice, Pay close attention to the charge card statements from the card that is used for the rental.

Overcharged - bad pricing model

I rented a car for a 3 day weekend. Cost is 9/day with 200 miles. When I returned the car, asked for a 4.50 hr rate to get the 100 miles per hour because I went over by 169 miles. The representative told me that there is nothing they can do. The system is set up that way and they cannot make adjustments. What poor poor customer service. Even the cell phone company allows you to bump to the next plan if you data rate is over to avoid the per data charge. I will never rent from this company ever!

Was assigned Hertz car due to no fault accident. The pick up fellow was awesome friendly, The counter person was terrible-never made eye contact, was always moving around. told me I had to fill the tank up, never mentioned a crack in the windshield, the car smelled so bad it stayed on our clothes, there was dog hair on the seats. The gas light came on before I got home and I live 3 miles from the Hertz location.It wasnt my rental choice as someone else was at fault, but I will never use Hertz sticking with Enterprise Car Rental
