The car was dirty (hard to tell in dark garage). The car broke down.

I called to make sure the local office had a car available for exchange and was told they did. Finally got the car started and to the local office - they would not give me a car exchange. The agent started the car 2 times and said he had nothing available for me. Luckily, when I left the office the car would not start - so I was put in an uncleaned compact.

Many phone calls later I have been given a 25% discount on a $458.00 6 day midsize car rental. I was stranded, asked to drive a broken vehicle and wasted hours on the phone.

Hertz has had many opportunities to take my bad experience and make it a wonderful story of how well I was taken care of. They have failed during the entire process.

Reason of review: Damaged or defective.

Monetary Loss: $250.

Preferred solution: Price reduction.

I didn't like: Cusstomer service is awful.
