I travel extensively for my job and only have problems when I rent cars from Hertz. My latest concern involves a recent trip to Holywood, FL.

I arrived on 12/02/15 and picked up my Hertz Rental car. On 12/02/15 I had a business dinner in Ft. Lauderdale and apparently received a parking ticket (nothing left on car). Ireceived a notice from Hertz on Jan 12, 2016 advising me of the citation which was for $47.00 plus a $30.00 administrative fee applied by Hertz for a $77.00 total.

I have never received ANY kind of ticket in my life and as a retired police officer contacted Ft Lauderdale to get the details. Unfortunately any appeal has to be submitted within 10 days of the citation being issued. hertz denied me my legal right to "due process" (due process of law definition: The principle that an individual cannot be deprived of life, liberty, or property without appropriate legal procedures and safeguards.) by not allowing me to appeal the ticket so that they could charge me an administrative fee on top of the parking fine (which may have been a mistake). Previous to that I had a trip to Washington DC on 09/16/15 where I had a Hertz car rented two weeks prior but had to wait for over 45 minutes along with 14 other customers because they didn't have enough cars.

As a result a missed a VERY important meeting that cost my company a $29k opportunity. Three calls to the local area supervisor went unreturned. The name "Hertz" is appropriate because it "hurts" your wallet, "hurts" your business reputation, and "hurts" your legal right to due process.

As a member of pre-paid legal I will be seeing if there is any legal recourse for their violations of my rights. Recommendation - AVOID HERTZ RENTAL CAR.

Reason of review: Denial of Due Process of the Law.

Monetary Loss: $150.

Preferred solution: Full refund.

Location: Fort Lauderdale, Florida

I agree, I recently traveled to Florida, and rented out of the Fort Lauderdale airport, and even after refusing an upgrade offer they charged me $140 dollars for one and $ 26 for unpaid tolls. I had to fight both charges.

I had another experience in Montana when they charged me for gas even though I returned the car with a full tank. I think Hertz is a criminal enterprise, stealing everday from unsuspecting customers.
