As an Uber rental partner, you are required to take the vehicle in for maintenance. While in maintenance, there should be a pro-rate or reimbursement for rental time that was paid for and the vehicle not being available. I was also given a vehicle with previous damage that subsequently got worse and did not allow me to use the vehicle to its full capacity, attempting to stop further damage.

I rented a car from hertz.

Someone picked it up for me and instead of renting the Car-in Scarsdale which is where I live, they rented it from an area which is quite a distance.

When it came time to return it, which is a week late, I was ill and asked them if they could get someone to pick up the car possibly from the Scarsdale Hertz.

Instead, they sent a toll which they charged me $1000 for.

Recently, I got a bill for an airline ticket hub for several hundred dollars.

I contacted my credit card company and told them I never got an airline ticket. I dont know anything about it.

Today I get a call from these people at Hertz. Whoever they are saying the airline ticket hub charge is connected to them.

Did you ever hear anything so ridiculous.

They canceled my card and I have to wait for a new one now and these people are calling me up and asking me to pay for this airline ticket and I really have no idea what they are talking about or how the *** they do their business.

I am furious because this is caused me so much difficulty and as far as I knew, the entire bill had been paid.

Now they tell me the airline ticket hub has to be paid because it was part of the Hertz bill!

You tell me if you think thats good business.

Don’t give up

I visited Hertz to use a birthday coupon because I was in a difficult situation and urgently needed a rental car. The representative who initially assisted me was new and still learning, and I want to make it clear that I had no issue with her.

However, another staff membersomeone Ive seen there many times beforeseemed to be having a bad day and the interaction was noticeably discouraging.
I had attempted to apply my birthday coupon online, but I mistakenly entered the wrong return date (two days instead of three). I fully acknowledge this was my error. However, the website did not indicate that the coupon would not apply due to the incorrect date. Many other companies, including Enterprise and even various food delivery sites, provide clear alerts when a promotion doesnt qualify.

This would have been very helpful.
I also hoped to take advantage of the Managers Special, but the location only had electric vehicles available. When I asked whether another Hertz location had additional options, I was met with a dismissive response and told to find out on my own since they said they could not apply the discount there anyway.
I then asked if it was possible to cancel my original reservation and create a new one so I could correctly use my birthday discount. I was told that if I did so, there was a possibility they would not be able to offer me any vehicle at all because they were sold out. Ultimately, I felt pressured into spending more than I could reasonably afford due to the limited availability and lack of support.
The entire experience gave the impression that maximizing revenue was being prioritized over customer service.

I want to emphasize that without customers, there is no business. Unfortunately, the service I received did not reflect that understanding.

I agree. One would think that someone old enough to drive would admit that the reason that they cannot be helped is because of their own fault.

Stolen car

have been a loyal Hertz customer for years and have rented from numerous locations without issue. However, my recent experience at the Florence, SC location (Second Loop) was extremely frustrating and concerning.

I returned the car as instructed, only for it to be stolen shortly after.

Despite this, I was charged for a missing key and a $830 towing fee from Dillon, SC, where the car was left. On top of that, the manager falsely stated to the police that they didnt know if I had returned the car, and no cameras were working to verify the situation. I was there to correct him in front of the cops, but he still lied and created a dangerous situation for me with the Florence police.

I am deeply disappointed by how the situation was handled. Not only was I charged unfairly, but the managers actions made me feel unsafe, and I was left with no way to properly defend myself.

Ive rented many cars from Hertz in the past, but after this experience, Ill be taking my business elsewhere.

I hope this review helps others avoid the stress I went through. Be cautious when renting from this location, as their customer service and handling of issues leave much to be desired.

I WAS a loyal DOLLAR customer for many years, but somewhere along the way DOLLAR became the worst place (customer service wise) to rent from. I USED to JUST go to the garage to pick up my car (no hassle) But then-something changed - now no one in the garage knew what to do so I was sent to the counter (behind 100 other people) I have tried to use DOLLAR again in different areas- with the same outcome - so I stopped ALL TOGETHER.

Now, I'm trying again, but can't get an answer to my question which is: with this reservation - can I skip the counter? I was on the phone with customer service for 1/2 hour- being on hold most of the time- only to find this girl had NO IDEA & told me to call the airport (which-by the way is impossible) Getting ahold of any live person (except for the people who have no area what they are doing) is impossible!

THIS IS THE REASON WHY I STOPPED USING DOLLAR RENTAL CAR - because the customer service SUCKS! I would rather pay more and receive good customer service.

Well... I was charged a $500 pet cleaning fee!

I was never even told of this and didn't know until I went to pay my CC; they just charged it. I was NEVER notified that I must clean the vehicle of any dirt before bringing it back! It is NOT posted anywhere in the office, and the people behind the counter stated that they don't notify you and it's at their discretion to do so. They also told me that it is NOT anywhere in the paperwork that I received!

The amount of pet hair was a joke; one trip to the vet for a total time of 20-25 minutes round trip and I never even sat in the seat! I have the picture of the seat and floor, and it would take 5 minutes to sweep it up. I even offered to rent it for an additional day and would go clean it, but was told NO, we can't rent it in that condition.

WTF!!! This is nothing more than thievery!

$500 is robbery. $100 would be sufficient, similar to mid-level hotel deposit. Unless there was a noticeable urine stain/odor.

I did not accept the pre-pay fuel option. I topped off the tank just before turning in the car.

They charged me $90 for "fuel service" When you call, you get a robot voice that just says: "sorry you are frustrated, perhaps you did not check your fuel level," and BS like this, including saying "$9" instead of "$90" even though it had my record locator. I finally get the robot to transfer me to human. Or at least supposedly transfer me. I've been on hold for half hour now.

I don't think there is a human. I think they just wait you out and hope you let them steal from you because they are too hard to talk to.

LOL... Clearly, you didn't bother to read and/or understand the terms of service that you accepted.

They told you there would be some kind of handling fee. Well, here it is. Stop whining, you chose to not stop off before dropping the car off.

This is an easy money maker for them because they know how many stupid people are out here renting cards. You may as well try to dispute it with your bank and see what happens but don't be mad if they say no too.

Im tired of being over charged. I paid almost $2000 to rent a vehicle.

I dont on it. They need to be more considerate of rentals concerns.They charged me $150 to pay for vacuuming the car which they already have to do. This service need to be known up front. If you rent a car from Hertz on Tennessee st, In Tallahassee,Florida.

You need to get a car wash before you bring it back. Then you would have the choice not to rent from Hertz anymore.

My car was hit by someone renting a car from Hertz

My car was hit while parked on 11/26/2025 by someone driving a car that was rented from Hertz, and as of today, no one has reached back out to me about fixing my car. I reported the incident on Monday because I was unable to reach anyone over the holiday. I was given a claim number and told that someone would be getting in contact with me, but that has not been done.

All my years of renting cars, the first time I came to hearse, I received the car on Saturday and brought it back on Sunday. Now they're telling me that I have to wait till November 3 for your company to release the funds. I'm just telling you as a valued customer.
